.рф is the first vernacular top-level domain. Other countries are working in this direction too, but Russia is the first.
The preliminary decision of allocating for the Russian Federation zone .рф was adopted in June 2008 at the ICANN conference in Paris. And in November 2008, ICANN has already been taken final decision on granting Russia .рф domain zone.
On November 25, 2009 an official accepting requests for .рф addresses began - for government agencies and trademark owners.
And from May 25, 2010 .рф domain started working in regular mode. And so тегас.рф does.
