Cheap High Purity Nitrogen
Adsorption nitrogen plants occupy the intermediate position between cryogenic and membrane plants. Membrane plants produce high purity nitrogen, but their output is low and nitrogen becomes too expensive, while the output capacity of cryogenic plants is high, their footprint is large, and they require qualified operators.
Adsorption plants produce nitrogen 95–99.9995% pure at a rate of 5–5,000 NM³/Hr [177 - 176,600 CFH]. They are relatively compact, fully automatic, and easily mounted.
Depleted sorbents for gas separation are replaceable.

Operating Principle: Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA)
The principle: air passes through the chamber with a sorbent permeable to nitrogen but not to oxygen. When the adsorbent is saturated with oxygen, air is passed through the second chamber of the same design, and the first chamber is blown through to remove the oxygen. In this manner the cycle is repeated again and again.
