A fire is combustion; combustion (and explosion) is a chemical reaction that requires oxygen. Hence, if inert nitrogen substitutes oxygen, a fire will be extinguished and explosion avoided.

Nitrogen, in contrast to liquid, foam or powder–easily gets to hard-to-reach places. Once the fire is extinguished nitrogen just disintegrates.

Nitrogen is also widely applied to create an explosion- and flame-proof medium, for example, in the unmanned production areas of mining and oil and gas industry facilities.

Nitrogen Fire Extinguishing Saves Money

Fire extinguished by liquid, foam, or powder leaves traces of extinguishing. For example, the remaining liquid takes time and means to be removed, and can lead to corrosion and equipment damage. Nitrogen used to extinguish a fire in rooms (spaces) leaves them and material values usable in the future.

In some cases when conventional fire extinguishing means are used (for example, after a fire in a coal mine has been extinguished, the mine is flooded by water), production can be renewed. Here, nitrogen is the only reasonable means for fire extinguishing and preventing.

Movable TGA-25/20 Nitrogen Fire Extinguishing Plant

Extinguishing of underground fires is an important application of the plant. The plant produces nitrogen of required concentration on-site from atmospheric air. In this case the environment is not contaminated by the extinguishing agents.

In addition, the plant is used to create an inert medium for gas and oil production or mining processes, when inspecting tanks, pipelines, etc. Thus it fulfils the whole range of tasks characteristic for models of SDA series. It can also be used as an air compressor (capacity, up to 38 nm³/min; pressure, up to 35 atm).

Structurally, the TGA-25/20 nitrogen plant is a standalone compressor unit mounted on a cross-country chassis and protected from exposure to the environment by a metallic body. Operating ambient temperature ranges from -60 up to +45 °C.

Structurally, the AMU fire extinguishing plant is designed as a modular block, which can be heat-insulated or equipped with a conditioning system. Therefore, the operational ambient temperature ranges from -40 to +50°C. The warranty period of gas separation membranes in the plant is 18 years, after which the membranes are replaced.

Thus, the AMU nitrogen fire extinguishing plant is the most reliable source of nitrogen that features all necessary automation and does not require an operator.
